How to use Active@ Disk Image:
Active@ Disk Image can be used to create backups of your entire hard drive or specific partitions. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to use it for both creating a backup and restoring an existing one:
Creating a Disk Image:
- Launch Active@ Disk Image: Open the program after installation.
- Select "Create Image": In the main window, choose the "Create Image" option.
- Pick the source disk/partition: Select the disk or partition you want to create a backup of.
- Choose Backup Type (Optional): You can pick between a full backup (entire disk) or a partition backup.
- Destination Selection: Click "Browse" to choose where you want to save the backup image file. Consider using an external drive with enough space.
- Compression & Splitting (Optional): Here you can set the compression level (affecting file size and speed) and split the image file into smaller chunks (useful for burning to DVDs).
- Password & Description (Optional): Set a password and add a description for the image file (optional but recommended for security and organization).
- Start the Backup Process: Click "Next" to begin the backup process. The time it takes will depend on the size of the data being backed up.
Restoring a Disk Image:
- Select "Restore Image": In the main program window, choose the "Restore Image" option.
- Locate the Backup Image: Click "Browse" to find and select the disk image file you want to restore from.
- Target Disk/Partition Selection: Choose the disk or partition where you want to restore the image. Be very careful during this step, as the existing data will be overwritten.
- Restore Confirmation: Review the details and confirm the restore process. This will overwrite all data on the target disk/partition.
