Here's how to use AnyTXT Searcher:
1. Download and Install:
- Download the software.
- The installation process is straightforward and shouldn't take long.
2. Let AnyTXT Searcher Build its Index (Wait a bit):
- Upon launch, AnyTXT Searcher will automatically start indexing your files. This process creates a database of your files' content for faster searching later.
- The indexing time depends on the amount of data on your drives.
3. Conduct Your Search:
- Once indexing is complete, you can begin searching!
- Type your search terms in the search bar at the top of the AnyTXT Searcher window.
4. Refine Results (Optional):
- AnyTXT Searcher allows you to filter your search results for more precision.
- Use the dropdown menus next to the search bar to filter by:
- Location (Drives)
- File Type (*. *)
- Other options like Date Modified and File Size
5. Preview and Open Files:
- AnyTXT Searcher offers a handy preview feature.
- Select a search result, and a snippet of the surrounding text will be displayed in the lower pane.
- To open the file, double-click on the search result or use the "Locate" option (Ctrl + E).
Bonus Tips:
- You can initiate a new search without closing the current one by using the "New Search" option (Ctrl+N) or going through the File menu.
- The File Index Manager allows you to manage which file types and folders are included in the indexing process.
